Overview

South Cambridgeshire District Council is seeking a dedicated Fleet & Service Asset Compliance Officer to join our Estates and Facilities team. This critical role ensures that our fleet of vehicles and service assets comply with all legal, safety, and environmental regulations, supporting the council's commitment to sustainable and efficient public services.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct regular inspections, audits, and testing of fleet vehicles and service assets to ensure compliance with DVSA, MOT, and environmental standards
• Maintain accurate records and compliance documentation using digital asset management systems
• Identify and mitigate risks, implementing corrective actions for non-compliant assets
• Collaborate with procurement, maintenance teams, and external contractors to uphold standards
• Stay updated on evolving legislation and advise on policy updates
• Prepare reports for senior management and regulatory bodies
• Promote a culture of safety and compliance across operations

• Proven experience in compliance management, fleet operations, or asset management within a public or private sector environment
• In-depth knowledge of UK health & safety regulations, environmental standards (e.g., DVSA, MOT, emissions), and local authority compliance requirements
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for inspections, audits, and record-keeping
• Proficiency in compliance software, Microsoft Office Suite, and asset tracking systems
• Excellent communication skills for liaising with suppliers, contractors, and internal teams
• Relevant qualifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or fleet management certifications preferred
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced council environment
