Overview

As the Lead Child and Youth Program Assistant (Level 5) CY-02 at the Miesau U.S. Army Garrison, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality recreational, educational, and developmental programs for children and youth aged 6 weeks to 18 years. This position supports military families by creating safe, engaging environments that promote physical, social, emotional, and cognitive growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and lead a team of program assistants in daily operations of child development centers, school-age services, and youth activities
• Plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate activities, including arts & crafts, sports, STEM programs, and outdoor adventures
• Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and regulatory standards (e.g., DoD certification, Army policies)
• Monitor program attendance, maintain records, and prepare reports on program effectiveness
• Provide guidance and mentorship to staff, handling scheduling, training, and performance evaluations
• Collaborate with parents, school staff, and community partners to enhance program offerings
• Respond to emergencies and maintain a clean, welcoming facility

• Minimum of 12 months experience working in a child and youth program
• Successful completion of background checks and physical exams
• Strong leadership and organizational skills
• Knowledge of child development principles and age-appropriate activities
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree preferred
• Familiarity with Army child and youth regulations (e.g., AR 608-10-1)
