Overview

Scotiabank, one of Canada's leading banks, is looking for a Manager, GFI Product Control to join our Global Banking and Markets division. This role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting for Global Foreign Investment (GFI) products, including oversight of profit and loss (P&L) validation, independent price verification (IPV), and trade support.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead a team of product controllers in daily P&L reconciliation, IPV processes, and regulatory reporting for GFI portfolios
• Develop and implement robust control frameworks to mitigate financial risks and ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations
• Collaborate with front office, trading, risk management, and finance teams to resolve discrepancies and enhance reporting accuracy
• Drive automation initiatives using advanced analytics and technology to streamline processes and improve efficiency
• Prepare management reports, variance analysis, and ad-hoc analysis for senior leadership
• Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field; CPA, CFA, or MBA preferred
• 7+ years of experience in product control, financial reporting, or middle/back office roles within banking or financial services
• Strong knowledge of foreign investment products, derivatives, and regulatory requirements (e.g., IFRS, OSFI)
• Proficiency in financial systems such as Murex, Summit, or Bloomberg; advanced Excel and SQL skills
